Texas Tech advanced to its third Sweet 16 in the last four seasons on Sunday, finishing Sunday’s second round matchup against Notre Dame on a 10-1 run to upend the Fighting Irish 59-53. The third-seeded Red Raiders 52-49 with 1:56 left, but closed the game strong and snatched Cinderella dreams from Notre Dame.

Tech’s graduate guard may look familiar to those in Buffalo. Davion Warren, who dawns the #2 jersey, is a transfer from Hampton University, but before that, played his High School ball in Buffalo at McKinley High School and Bishop Timon High School. He averaged 22 points and 14 rebounds as a Tiger during his senior season.

This season with Tech, Warren is averaging 9.7 points and 3.1 rebounds, while playing 24.2 minutes per game.

Tech will now face second-seeded Duke in the Sweet 16 on Thursday at 9:30 pm EST on CBS.
